2 Patchwork Cards and Doubledog Card!

Supplies: SU All Holidays (sentiment) Bravo Burgandy Ink, Bravo Burgandy and white CS, Basic Grey Figgy Pudding DP, 1" and 1-1/4' sq. punch, SU exclusive ornaments Sizzlet, SU Trio Punch

I made a card for the Featured Stamper challenge this weekend (CarolAnne aka MrsBoz) who is super duper talented BTW! I loved the sketch from this card from her gallery, and so I ended up making

two -- both with the same DP and color scheme, but as you might notice, the 2nd time around, I was a little more selective in my choice and placement of "patches".

And this card is for my Doubledog Dare challenge from last week

-- I KNOW! I had it done by Wednesday last week and for some reason left it sitting here to post! So I'm making sure I get it up here tonight! (Especial since the next DDC for this week is already posted!! LOL!) Our host this week was Joanne (aka Sleepy in Seattle) who challenged was to make a wreath without a wreath stamp, and bonus if we use flowers to get the job done!! So I used a large fern punch by Punch Bunch and some red cupped FLOWER sequence (note to Joanne!!) I chose the snowflake patterned acetate CS by SU because I had it out from an earlier card that I made! The red button bow is unidentifiable -- it's from my stash of unclaimed holiday hodge podge that continues to accumulate and multiply as the years go by!! Please join in any of the DDC with the talented group of ladies that participate each week (see my sidebar)! We'd love for you you to join in! Just choose any of the challenges found here and upload to SCS using DDC as your keyword, or leave me a comment if you post it on your Blog and I'll spread the word! The DDC gals would LOVE to see your work!! TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

A Very Cool Product!

Supplies: Very Vanilla, Handsome Hunter, Black, White, Gold Foil CS. 3-D Stickers by Paper Studio, Martha Stewart Fern Punch, Inkadinkadoo Clear Mini stamp, Versafine Onyx Black ink.
It seems like I have piles of Christmas cards made and I stopped to count today and I still have 19 more to go!! I really gotta get faster at this!! These 3 were made with stickers and punches, and a little doodling! Now for the cool product!! I came across this very cool paper ribbon while ordering some stuff for work. It's super easy to manipulate and it makes wonderful, billowy bows that hold their shape no matter how many times you pull and tug and mess with it. It's hard to describe the material, its very durable even though it is 100% paper. It almost feels like a combination of glassine and crepe. I don't know how else to describe it. I got 3 rolls from Papermart.com -- 25 yds for only $1.98 ea!! Shipping was immediate and I received my order in 2 days!! I highly recommend you get a few rolls to try yourself, It's really awesome stuff!! The cards below feature a bow made with either the Gold or White paper ribbon. TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Baby's First Christmas

Supplies: A Muse Mouse, Copics, SU Acetate CS, White and Bazzil CS, Cuttlebut EF, Martha Stewart Border Punch, velvet Ribbon
Had on my list to make a special "Baby's First Christmas" card for a close friend that had a baby boy this year. The adorable website for the IC this week is Oliebollen! It's all about kids so I knew this was the perfect place to get inspiration for my card! I chose this cute Margot and Mo Playsuit. The mice reminded me of the tiny Santa Mouse A Muse Stamp I had so that's how this one came about. It worked nicely with the Saturday Spotlight Challenge for this week as well -- creating a card that included a hat! The blue panel is punched around the border with MS border punch and layered onto SU snowflake acetate. Just a little blue velvet bow to finish it off and keep it simple!! TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Amazing Birgit!

What a Superstar FS gallery this week over on SCS!! Birgit aka Biggan's gallery is being featured -- A Must See for everyone! Birgit is such a sweetheart too, she's always offering to share her supplies and talent. I adore this woman! Not knowing where to even start in choosing a card from her vast showcase, I have so far now cased two of them! This one is based on her "A Brilliant Challenge" card. I started with Bazzil textured CS in a taupe color and swiped Colorbox Chalk ink in fall colors across the front to create a similar style background as Birgits. I punched leaves and ferns from various punches in coordinating CS colors. Layered them and added a cute squirrel brad from Recollections Autumn Fabric Brads collection. (Love them!) I followed Birgit's layering scheme and used Dark Brown, Taupe, and Green panels. This next card is another one of her lovely, simple cards. It is based on her Christmas in July card. Followed her same design concept but used the stamps and supplies I had on hand. These sparkly brads are by Recollections, part of a big Blog Candy win from earlier this month. My main image is a 3-D sticker, so that made it super easy and quick! Congratulations to Birgit!! TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Simple Tag Card

Supplies: Black and Kraft CS, Basic Grey DP. We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. MS Border punch, 1-14/" square punch, 1/2" circle punch, 1/4" circle punch, heart punch. Sizzix Tag die. Faux rhinestones, hemp string.
The IC today had my head spinning with ideas! Just something about the simple fabric-covered brads and buttons made by "aimoobaroo's" Etsy Shop got me thinking of so many different uses for them! And wouldn't you know it, I didn't use any on this card LOL!! I went with the design concept of this tag card called "Glittered Rainbow Hearts" brads. The bright colors and the contrast of black caught my eye. The tag is 11" when open full length. It was scored in half, then in half again and then accordion folded. The Kraft squares on the outside are punched with 1-1/4" square punch and corners are rounded. Inside, the pockets are Craft and DP that matches the hearts on the outside. They are edged with MS border punch. Anyhow, no stamping here, just punching and gluing! What fun! Thanks for the fun inspiration Stephanie! TFL, I'm so glad you stopped by!

Plaid and Buttons!

This is my card for the Doubledog Dare challenge this week: Plaid and Buttons! I was a little curious how the combo would work but I think all is well with this one!

I created the plaid background using SU Flannel Plaid BG stamp in Artichoke and Chocolate chip to go along with the Color Challenge this week over on SCS -- Chocolate Chip and Always Artichoke.

The button is really two buttons -- a large brown one from GinaK and an Always Artichoke one from SU, stacked on top of each other. I punched some leafy branches with an EK Success punch to tuck under the buttons so they weren't sitting there unadorned and random looking!

I can't believe there's nothing Martha Stewart on this card?? Must be late. (LOL!)

Hey!! I Doubledog Dare You to play along in the DDC challenge this week!! Create a card using plaid and buttons! Just use DDC as your keyword when you upload your card!! Post it to your blog or fav on-line gallery and leave me a comment to let me know!! The Doubledog Dare Gals (see my sidebar) would LOVE to see your work!!

TFL, happy stamping my friends!

Purple and Red

Supplies Used: Real Red, Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum CS. SU Peaceful Wishes stampset. Dimensional Sticker from Pooch & Sweetheart. MS Border Punch. White Signo Gel Pen and 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (SU).

This is straight out of the Kristina Werner playbook -- "A Year in Cards - November 2009". You can feel pretty confident that your card will turn out "pretty O.K." if you CASE anything from her blog!! I used different colors and added a bow and border punch accent. Thanks again Kristina!!

Masterboard Christmas Cards - Quick Tutorial

While on my quest for inspiration for Christmas card making, I came across a challenge on Chris' blog (Twinkles Glow with Stamps) by the "Saturday Spotlight Challenge" team to create a "masterboard". I had never heard that term before so I was intrigued and consequently learned that a masterboard is basically a sheet of patterned DP that you design to use on your cards! You can then make copies of it and can use it over and over for future cards. So I set off to create my "masterboard" and some cards with it! I used the holly branch from SU's Leaf Lines and stamped it with StazOn randomly on some watercolor paper. Selected my crayon colors (Old Olive and Handsome Hunter) and touched over all the leaves with a little smudge of each. Then used my aqua brush to water down the smudges and blend the colors. I intentionally wanted it to be not-so-precise coloring. I dotted the berries with a Prismacolor marker in Crimson Red. And there you have it. My sheet was about 8-1/2" by 6". Here's two cards I made with my masterboard. What a great idea and fun to do!!

Featured Stamper Card

Supplies Used: Stamps: Peaceful Wishes, Studio G, Paper: River Rock, Vintage Violet, Elegant Eggplant, Ink: River Rock, Elegant Eggplant. Other: SU Heat & Stick powder, Cartwright's Motherlode Hologram Glitter, buttons, dimensional sticker by Pooch & Sweetheart, neutral floss.
Congratulations Dawn!! Lucky us!! Your wonderful gallery is fun and inspiring!! I chose to case Dawn's Merry Christmas card! What attracted me to this was the pretty holiday DP she used and the buttons! But as you can see, mine looks nothing like this by the time I got done with it! I stamped my background in Versamark and used Heat and Stick powder so I could use the extra sparkly glittery "Motherlode Hologram" glitter from Cartwright's Sequins. The buttons are "Holiday Mix" from PTI and Autumn Button Assortment from GinaK -- They are all so gorgeous! I love them!! The focal image is a dimensional sticker from the $1.00 bin at Michaels, labeled "Pooch and Sweetheart". I've gotten so much use from these stickers -- I'll be posting all my holiday cards later this week, you'll see!! Congrats again to Dawn!! Truly worthy of The Crown this week! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
